As a breeder, Semillas Batlle protects its PBR (Plant breeders’ rights) varieties that may be marketed or produced through a formal agreement with other entities, allowing the use of its differentiated genetics, exclusive and adapted to the edaphoclimatic conditions throughout the Iberian Peninsula.

HARD SEEDS

Hard seeds are impervious and germinate slowly unless mechanically or chemically treated. Hard seed varieties are agronomic alternatives for permanent dry meadows, vegetable covers, and other long-lasting crops which have a high persistence over the years, without the possibility of resorting to irrigation.

NUMBER OF PLANTS PER SURFACE

The thousand seed weights (TKW) vary for each species and between varieties. Hence why our mixtures focus on the number of plants per hectare while maintaining the balance between the species to allow the desired biodiversity. 

LEGUMINOUS INOCULATION

Semillas Batlle inoculates its legume seeds with specific rhizobium strains for each species. The symbiosis generated between rhizobium strains and the legumes species guarantees high rates of atmospheric nitrogen fixation. At sowing, the soil must be above 10º C degrees for an effective start of the symbiosis.
