DESCRIPTION

  • The most developed plants are semi-erect and have thick hollow stems.
  • Arrow-shaped leaflets with standard white marking may also be red or light green.
  • Flowers: Initially white, can turn purple. 
  • Seed Color: Brown
  • Thousand seed weight (TSW): 1.15 grams.

FEATURES

  • Species adapted to various soils, except sandy and acid ones.
  • Low tolerance to waterlogging.
  • With a profound root system, it stays green longer than other species of the most common forages. 
  • It grows very well in deep sandy soils, particularly those with a phreatic level of 1 to 2 meters. 
  • It has a high percentage of hard seeds, which allows it to be very persistent.

SOWING 

  • Sowing Period: September to November.

    • Pure: 4 – 12 kg/ha.
    • Mixture: 2 – 5 kg/ha, depending on the species.
